Love Project

This photo is supposed to represent "Love of Knowledge/Reading". It represents the idea of "love of knowledge/reading" because it shows the girl surrounded by books on a shelves with a stack of books by her side while reading a book. I also believe that the photo shows this idea because it doesn't show her smiling/grinning at the book like she is in love with it, but lost in the book and the storyline with the intricate characters. I think that aspect of the photo shows she is invested in the book and the storyline over anything else which shows she cares about the story that it is trying tell. 

For the photo, I wanted to do something where my subject (which is my sister) was surrounded by books and had stacks of books by her feet. While I did not feel very comfortable just pulling an entire shelf of books off and sitting them on the ground, so I used some books that my sister and I had decided to buy as my props for the stacks. I took many different photos in many different angles before deciding that I wanted to do use this photo as my project photo. In the original photo, It was very bright and I wanted my photo to be more dim so that you focused on the subject and the books. So, I used Levels and Brightness/Contrast in Photoshop to make the lighting not as harsh as it was in the original photo. I also cropped the photo a bit to get rid of some excess lighting that was showing from other bookcases (and other bookstore customers that were there).
