First Semester Reflection

part 1

1. The quality of my work in this class I think that my photos are pretty decent for a person little to no experience with working a camera prior to the start of the class. As I got assigned each project, it was a little difficult to come up with an idea but once I had my idea, I enjoyed the photo taking process and it was easy to achieve the 24 photo minimum for each project. During the semester, I tried to come up with multiple ideas for one project so that if one idea did not work out, I had others to look through and work with. The more I took photos the more that I tried to work on the quality of the photo itself and on the subject of it. With each project, I believe that I am getting a better understanding of how to make the most out of every photo I take for projects like with composition.

2. When I look for locations to shoot for my projects, I usually look for the most convenient and easily accessible to me within the time frame that I have due to work and other extra curricular activities I participate in. I typically take a few days to plan out what I want to shoot and where I'm going to do it. I try to come up with multiple ideas for the project before deciding on my final idea.  When I actually get to shooting, I try to take more photos than is probably necessary so that if the shot I'm looking for is blurry or not level, I have a few photos to look through before finding that photo that I'm looking for.  If the shot I'm think of is hard or harder than I expected it to be, I try to attempt to take picture in that shot. Even after I attempt the shot and if it doesn't work out like I would want it to, then I know that I tried and I know what I need to work on with my photos.

3. My class prior to this one is near by so I am always on time to class on the days that I am at school. The class period is usually when I work on my planning for my shoots for projects, working on the Photoshop projects and editing of projects that I am working on. I try to work individually on all my projects but, sometimes I bounce ideas off of my neighbor who sits next to me in class to help me with a project idea that I may be struggling with.

4. I believe that I have improved with my photography from the start of the school year. As I worked more with my camera and with the projects, the more confident I felt with quality of my photos and with what I was capturing in them. At this point in the school year, I understand how to operate my camera more and how to get it to capture the photo the way I want. I don't really know what I would call my style as a photographer or what you would label my photos but I do know that I am happier with my photos now than I was before this class started.

5. Next semester I am going to work more with my camera so that I can do some of the harder shots that didn't work out previously in projects. I am gong to watch more videos on photography and photoshop so that I can improve my skills and hopefully make my photos even better than in the previously. Lastly, I am going to try and think more outside the box to come up with better and more compelling compositions.

part 2

1. A project that I would find interesting to do would be something more in nature like a panoramic landscape photo. I would like to see all the different things everyone could come up with that idea.
